Dr. Naheed Jawed is a Registered Clinical psychologist providing assessment
and treatment services to children and adults in Airdrie and Calgary. Her
specializations are in Clinical and Forensic psychology and she has over
19 years of experience providing psychological services. Dr. Jawed
completed her graduate studies from universities in Florida and Arizona and
has worked both in the United States and Canada.
Dr. Jawed's experience involves working with clients in the community,
sometimes referred to as the "worried well," individuals with more severe
mental illness, dually diagnosed individuals (those suffering from substance
abuse and mental health issues), and forensic clients. Her experience also
involves provision of psychoeducational assessments, i.e. assessments for
learning disabilities or ADHD for children and adults. Dr. Jawed has worked
in Federal and Provincial correctional institutions providing psychological
risk assessments and treatment. As a Clinical manager for a national
Employee Assistance firm, she gained extensive experience with human rights
and disability legislation related to the workplace, work-related
psychological injuries and accommodations, and substance abuse and fitness
to work assessments. Interest in human rights has led to Dr. Jawed providing
psychological assessments related to mental health claims in cases of
immigration, individuals fleeing from persecution, and torture.
Dr. Jawed provides both psychological assessment and treatment services. She
is well versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing
Therapy (CPT), Solution focussed therapy, and Interpersonal therapy among
other schools of thought. Similar to the importance of a psychologist-client
fit, the fit of a client to the therapy style is also important. Therefore,
Dr. Jawed's therapeutic strategy is tailored to each individual client's
relating style and needs.
Dr. Jawed's emphasis in therapy is on your undiscovered strength and
resilience so that you can achieve the goals that are important to you. She
believes that life's adversities provide a varied backdrop for opportunities
of self-learning and self-healing. Dr. Jawed is grateful for the opportunity
to accompany you on a journey that leads to such a sense of empowerment.
Dr. Jawed would be happy to provide an initial 15-minute complimentary phone
or in person consultation so that you may assess if the psychologist fit is
appropriate for you.
